Haven Lodge Coffee Morning

The RA  Committee and I popped into Haven Lodge for the coffee morning arranged by WOW Mums, I baked them a lovely Pavlova, Haven Lodge is a lovely tranquil sheltered home for the elderly I love meeting up with them, they are so full of life and so entertaining. Most of the residents will be coming on the coach trip to Margate and  WOW Mums will sponsor them. It is great working in the Community. Anna, Marsha, Sylvia and I say a big thank you to Senia for the invite, see you in three months. Estate Walkabout

Hi Kambala Residents This is not a very happy post, on Tuesday 21st of July the Committee and I did a thorough walkabout on the Estate. We still have a huge problem with the cleaning and bin cupboards. It made me very sad to see that some residents still do NOT keep their bin cupboards in a clean & tidy state, it is totally the Residents responsibility to take care of this. After finding all this we had a meeting with Mark Hickey  from Estate Services and James Abbott Manager of Lewis and Graves, hoping that we could resolve the problem. The outcome was to have another thorough walkabout on Wednesday 29th July with Laura Gavin, Estate Manager, Mark Hickey, Estate Services and Highways. I guess that whatever they find the tenants in question will face a fine, because they are breaking their tenancy/Lease agreement. The Residents Association work tirelessly all year round to improve things on the Estate and really do not need to be doing this, we would rather be doing activities that pull the community together. I really did not enjoy putting this post on today as it is very negative, but it is a problem that is ongoing so felt I had to. CCTV ban for Council Tenants

One of our Residents has recently been told by the Council that they must take down the CCTV cameras that they have put up, to protect their garden and their flat. The resident was unaware that Tenants must ask permission before attaching anything to the outside of the building, and so asked for permission retrospectively, which has now been refused. Apparently the Council will not give permission for any Council Tenant to put up CCTV. They’ve given no good reason other than that the camera footage could include some of the Communal areas, as well as the Tenant’s own Garden, and “they don’t think it’s appropriate to take footage of Communal areas” – despite the fact that the large CCTV cameras around the estate do exactly that, and that private properties all around the borough routinely film the pavement outside their premises. What do you think?  Should Tenants be allowed to put up CCTV to protect their property?  Vote in our Poll on the right, or leave a comment here…   Share this:Click to print (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)MoreClick to email this to a friend (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share...

We did it!

We attended the Area Housing Panel Meeting Last night and won our bid for £8740.60 for the Community Garden Project. The Community Garden is located between Hicks Close and McDermott Close, work will start in about four weeks. The garden will have a complete makeover, new flower beds will be built, new lighting installed, an outside tap, new tables and chairs, all the walls & shed doors will be painted and the floor cleaned and refurbished.  This project has been on and off for about five years, so I am personally  very excited about it finally being completed. This is one of many gardens on the Estate not being used, we hope to eventually have them all made over and being used by residents..
